The Purpose of Adult Education is to:
Our purpose is to assist adults to become literate and obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for employment and self-sufficiency. Also, to assist adults who are parents, to obtain the educational skills necessary to become full partners in the educational development of their children. Our classes are free of charge and we offer numerous class locations and schedules.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The Cleburne Adult Education Cooperative services Johnson and Hood counties. Most of our classes are in the evening, but we do offer morning classes at some of our locations (during the Fall and Spring sessions). As an added bonus, a graduation ceremony is held at the end of the school year to honor those who have received their GED!
GED PREPARATION:
GED preparation classes are designed to assist adults in preparing for the General Education Development (GED) examination. Instructors teach Language Arts, Reading, Writing, Social Studies, Science and Mathematics according to each participants identified needs. Whether you need in–depth work in all content areas or just one, we can help ease your anxieties and gain the skills and confidence needed to successfully obtain your GED.
ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL):
Adult Education ESL classes are designed to teach adult learners to speak English. Instructors assist students to learn to read, write, and comprehend the English language, thus improving their opportunities for substantial employment and allowing them to better participate in the lives of their children. Part of this basic instruction includes information and activities that teach community awareness and encourage civic responsibility and involvement. Students will obtain a better understanding of the banking, health, and legal, education, and government systems in the U.S. No documentation is needed to register.
