Open Enrollment "Extravaganza" Set for July 25 from 7 AM to 7 PM at Cleburne HS

Registration for pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and students new to Cleburne ISD—and a whole lot more—is planned for the Open Enrollment “Extravaganza” taking place July 25 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the new Cleburne High School.

“We are excited to be staging this at the new Cleburne High school,” Tammy Bright, assistant superintendent for Student Services said. “This 12-hour event will include the enrollment of students new to our district, including those registering for Pre-K and kindergarten. We will also have representatives from our campuses and district departments to welcome parents needing to sign up their child for transportation service in the new school year, register for the free and reduced lunch program or turn in the required paperwork for middle school and high school students who will be participating in our athletic programs.”

Parents needing access to a computer to complete online registration packets required for all CISD students are also encouraged to stop by the high school on July 25.

“We will have staff members available to assist parents with completing the necessary online forms for the new school year, including emergency information and registration for Skyward Family Access,” Bright said. “We are trying to provide our parents with ‘one stop shopping’ in staging this event. Not every parent was able to attend our Pre-K and kindergarten spring registration and we are looking forward to welcoming these early learners as well as students who will be attending Cleburne schools for the first time.”

Students who attended the CISD Pre-K program last year have been registered for kindergarten and do not need to report to Open Enrollment. Students who will be age four on or before September 1 may be enrolled in full-day Pre-K through the state’s eligibility requirements, or through the District’s new Tuition-Based program.

Under Texas Education Agency guidelines, state-funded Pre-K is available only to students who are limited English proficient, eligible for the free/reduced price lunch program, homeless or are currently or have been in the care of the Department of Family and Protective Services. Children with a parent on active duty in the U.S. armed forces are also eligible.

Tuition for Cleburne’s Pre-K program, open to students who do not meet state requirements, will be $3,850 for the 2019-20 school year, which can be paid in monthly installments of $385 over a ten-month period.

Students who will be age five on or before September 1 are eligible for kindergarten. Parents participating in the Open Enrollment event should bring the child they will be registering with them, regardless of their grade level.

In order to complete the registration process, parents should bring a copy of their child’s birth certificate, current immunization record, Social Security card and proof of residence, such as a utility bill or rental agreement. The parent/guardian will be asked to present their driver’s license or a photo ID.

Parents registering their child for Pre-K under state eligibility guidelines should also bring proof of income in the form of two current check stubs from every wage earner in the household.

Nurses from Passport Health/Staying Healthy Medical Services will be at the high school from 3-7 p.m. to conduct a children’s vaccination clinic for enrolling students ages 3-18 who may not be current on state-required immunizations. A printed current vaccine record or a letter from the child’s school indicating missing vaccines must be presented by the parent/guardian in order for immunizations to be administered.

Insurance from Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana and United Health Care PPO will be accepted (excluding Aetna and Blue Cross Gold, Silver and Bronze plans or HMO plans with any provider). Parents should provide a paper photo copy of their insurance card. Students covered by Medicaid/CHIP will receive vaccines at no charge if a paper copy of their insurance card is provided. Cash and checks will also be accepted. Vaccines are $10 each and will include Chicken Pox, DtaP, Hepatitis A and B, HPV, Meningococcal, MMR, Polio, Pneumonia and TDaP.

A second immunization clinic will be conducted August 8 from 5-7p.m. at Smith and Wheat Middle Schools.
