Lady Jacket players and their parents will have the opportunity to visit with new Head Volleyball Coach Rachell Pope in a meeting set for Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the CISD Central Offices Board Room.
“When our committee met to review applications and select candidates for the interview process, Coach Pope impressed all of us with her energy and focus as a teacher and coach,” Athletic Director Mark Walker said. “She’s kid-centered and understands the importance, and has the skills to communicate with both younger players and the older and more experienced players, having coached at both the middle school and high school levels.”
Pope, who just completed her second year with CISD as a sixth grade PE teacher and coach at Wheat Middle School, also served three years as head volleyball coach at Rio Vista ISD. She began her career in Castleberry, where she coached for four years at the middle school level. Her time with Castleberry ISD included two years as athletic coordinator, overseeing programs at the middle school campuses and Castleberry High School.
“Coach Pope is familiar with Cleburne and our volleyball programs,” Walker said. “She’s committed to taking care of the details, dedicated to building the foundation of Lady Jackets Volleyball and adding to the achievements and success of the program.”
