Proposed New CHS 360˚ Aerial Site Plan Video
On February 16, 2016 the CISD Board of Trustees approved a call for a May 7 bond election for $130.5 million to include the construction of a new Cleburne High School on the existing site, and the renovation of the current high school, which opened in 1975, to serve as a Career/Technology Education and Fine Arts facility.
The referendum will also include instructional technology for all CISD classrooms and libraries, common one-to-one mobile devices for middle school and high school students and renovations and upgrades to Cooke and Coleman Elementary Schools.
Components within the $130,558,461 referendum are based on a recommendation from the 59-member CISD Citizens' Bond Committee, following a series of meetings which began in late September, 2015. Following five months of review, research and collaboration, the committee presented their findings in the form of a recommendation to Trustees on February 8, 2016.
In addition to determining the components to be addressed in the May 7 bond proposal, the committee was charged with developing a long-range facility plan for the District, which has also been presented to the CISD Board of Trustees. That plan extends to 2027 and includes land acquisitions, construction of new elementary schools and a new stadium among its list of projects to be addressed in future bond initiatives.
Information, news, facts and figures relating to Bond 2016 will be posted here, along with voting dates and locations.
